Promoting Regional Vitalization

We established the Regional Vitalization Council as a cross-functional organization for contributing to regional vitalization initiatives. In addition, Resona Bank, Saitama Resona Bank and Kansai Mirai Bank each have set up their own Community, People and Work Vitalization Council.

Supporting Communities through Financial Instruments

Private Placement SDGs Promotion Bonds

We offer a lending product where 0.1% of the value of a privately-placed bond is donated to an organization of the customer's choice that promotes the SDGs. Our initiatives to contribute to the SDGs through financial services, including the development and offering of this product, were recognized with the Minister of the Environment Award under the Principles for Financial Action for the 21st Century award program.

Growth Sectors Support Fund

Resona Bank provides an investment fund that implements the Bank of Japan’s “Fund-Provisioning Measure to Support Strengthening the Foundations for Economic Growth” guidelines. Through this fund, we are supporting a wide range of client companies to raise funds for investing in stronger growth foundation in the 18 growth sectors specified by the Bank of Japan. The sectors include among others investment and business development in Asian countries, environmental and energy projects, and regional revitalization and urban renewal projects.

Funds Supporting Local Companies

Each bank of the Resona Group is actively committed to offering a variety of lending products for facilitating access to financing and ensuring funding stability for SME and business owners in their local communities and for supporting new business, further growth, and business succession.

Services for Corporate Customers

For corporate customers, we use employees in charge of business segments, solid support functions, and quality-focused sales activities to carefully foster relationships with each corporate customer. Our front-line sales employees and headquarters work as a team to combine their knowledge and skills, and insights that provide optimal solutions to the business issues that our customers face.

Business Succession

Due to the aging of company owners and a shortage of successors, taking proper measures for inheritance and arranging for business succession are the most important issues faced by SMEs in Japan. Drawing on its many years of experience and accumulated know-how in trust products, such as trusts for transfer of own company stock and the real estate business, Resona Bank provides a comprehensive range of advice to its customers to enable them to arrange a smooth business succession.

Resona Bank opened Bank Resona Perdania in Indonesia in 1958, Resona Merchant Bank Asia in Singapore in 2017, and representative offices in four major cities (Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh) in Asian countries with a large presence of Japanese companies. These outlets provide finely tuned support based on local needs, including resolving various challenges associated with overseas expansion and doing business locally. In addition, we also have business tie-ups with prominent banks in each country to supplement our financial services such as lending and forex in these overseas markets (21 banks in 14 countries/regions). In this manner, we have established an exhaustive customer support system covering nearly every corner of Asia while in North America we offer services through the expansive branch networks and Japan desks of local banks in the United States.

Additionally, Resona Bank has concluded a collaboration agreement with Osaka Prefecture for SME promotion. Saitama Resona Bank has concluded a business cooperation agreement for international business with Saitama Prefecture and a comprehensive collaboration agreement with Saitama City. In this manner, we offer a broad range of support and cooperation to meet the needs of international business.

Activities of Overseas Locations that Contribute to the Community

Donation Programs

Each year, Bank Resona Perdania donates funds through its donation program to the Bandung Japanese School.
Donations are also being made to the environmental education activities at the University of Palangka Raya.

Financial Education Programs

Resona Perdania Bank provides a Financial Education Program for local residents and high schools. The Financial Education Program has three aims: “Support society through bank transactions,” “Understand various bank products and services,” and “Understand profits and costs created by bank transactions such as interest.” This matches the pillars of finance, including Bank Indonesia. This is recently also working to boost awareness about money laundering problems and terrorism countermeasures.

Overseas Human Resource Development Support

The Resona Group, strengthening ties between Japan and the global community, offers scholarships to support overseas human resource development.
