Resona no Kizuna: Disaster Area Forestation Project

The Resona no Kizuna disaster area forestation project works to regenerate forests and disaster prevention forests in the Tohoku region, which were severely damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Since March 2013, we have been delivering seedlings from Tohoku to kindergartens, elementary schools, and junior high schools near Resona Group bank branches nationwide, and since 2015, the seedlings that were carefully nurtured have been replanted at the Millennium Hope Hills in Miyagi Prefecture. It is our hope that children across the country will continue to deepen their understanding of the importance of environmental protection and disaster prevention activities, as well as remember the earthquake and continue to sympathize with the affected areas.

Saitama Resona Forest Stewardship Activities

Saitama Resona Bank is working on forest stewardship activities in cooperation with Nagatoro Town and Saitama Prefecture.

In November 2010, 400 seedlings were planted on Mt. Hodo in Nagatoro Town and area was given the name Saitama Resona Forest. Since 2011, undergrowth clearing (weed removal) has been carried out as an activity to protect and nurture the seedlings.

Furthermore, to mark the 20th anniversary of the bank's opening in March 2023, an additional 100 trees were planted through financial products with the cooperation of 140 supporting companies.

Kansai Mirai Bank Forest Conservation Activities

Kansai Mirai Bank is taking advantage of Osaka Prefecture's Adopt-a-Forest program, and has signed an agreement with Osaka Prefecture, Katano City, and forest owners to work on the Ikoma Mountains Flower Folding Screen Project in Katano City.

This project is positioned as Kansai Mirai Bank’s commitment to forest stewardship, and by developing and planting forests, the bank is contributing to the conservation of Satoyama and biodiversity.

Participation in Operation Cleanup Covering Coastal Areas Along Three Channels

Minato Bank works with local communities to clean up the coastlines along three channels (Naruto, Kitan, and Akashi straits) that are important for the generation of whirlpools in the Naruto Strait. The whirlpools have the effect of stirring up nutrients and plankton that have sunk into the sea from the rivers, creating a rich ocean. Through these activities, we hope to have the whirlpools of the Naruto Strait registered as a World Heritage Site.
