Declaration on Health Management

In order for the Resona Group to put into practice its Purpose of "Beyond Finance, for a Brighter Future," it is of utmost importance that all employees, who are responsible for this Purpose, can maximize their abilities. Within our human resources strategy, we define our ideal state as "enable each employee to strike a work-life balance" and "each employee is assured of a workplace that will support their emotional and physical health over the long term." The realization of this Ideal will lead to a sustainable, positive cycle of value creation for customers and society and the well-being of employees, as well as a brighter future.

To this end, we need to maintain and improve the physical and mental health of employees and to promote the creation of a comfortable and healthy work environment. The company, Health Association, and employees will work together to promote health management.

Promotion System

The Resona Group has established a health management center within the personnel department of each bank with the Executive Officer in Charge of Human Resources Division as the person in charge of promotion. We have also constructed a promotion system that is coordinated throughout the Group. The Health Management Promotion Business Committee with the Health Association meets every six months to share and verify the status of initiatives to maintain and improve the physical and mental health of employees and to create a comfortable and healthy work environment, and to promote collaborative health.

Health Management Strategy Map

We have formulated a health management strategy map to define the connection between management issues to be solved through health management, expected effects, and specific initiatives. Various numerical values are compiled to verify the effects.

Main Measures

Health Checkups

We not only implement legally mandated periodic checkups but also provide comprehensive medical checkups at company-designated healthcare facilities to employees in their 35th year and, in years when their age is an even number, to those over 40. Through the Resona Health Association, we provide subsidies for employees and their families to undergo health checkups, including comprehensive medical checkups and cancer screenings.

Mental Health Actions

We conduct stress checks and interviews with industrial physicians based on group analysis. Additionally, we are striving to prevent mental illness through various self-care and line-care training and one-on-one training.

Visits by Industrial Health Staff

In addition to appointing industrial physicians, we assign staff specializing in industrial health and tasked with patrolling and visiting each department and branch to provide health guidance, confirm the status of workplace environments and, if necessary, point out areas for improvement. Such personnel work in collaboration with health supervisors at each department and branch to create a comfortable working environment.

Increasing Health Literacy

We send out monthly publication called "Health News" edited by an industrial physician covering such topics as sleep, exercise habits, and lifestyle-related diseases. In addition, we host a business school that also examines various health-related topics led by external lecturers.

Preventing Secondhand Smoke

In April 2020, we enforced a smoking ban during working hours in order to encourage employees to strive to improve their health.
