Identification of Materiality (Material Issues)

In November 2018, the Resona Group identified material issues covering the four categories of local communities, low birthrate & aging society, the environment, and human rights, as environmental and social issues that it should prioritize in order to contribute to the realization of dynamic and sound local communities through financial services.

Our Process for Identifying Material Issues

We analyzed environmental and social issues, including those covered in the SDGs, to identify issues taking into account the Group's corporate mission, policy and initiatives, along with employee awareness. These material issues were then reported to the Board of Directors and approved.

Following the seven issues indicated in the Resona Group Sustainability Policy (corporate governance, human rights, diversity, compliance, consumer issues/customer service, communities, and the environment), we identified 22 social issues based on the GRI Standard, ISO 26000 framework and external evaluation categories.
